from Create website:

We have commissioned Glasgow-based artist Laura Aldridge to devisea 6-week residency in Ferguslie Park, a housing estate in Paisley.

Laura will run a series of creative workshops in a social centre on the estate from 14 Feb to 27 March 2020. The drop-in workshops invite local residents to make beautiful and useful things for the home and garden.

Called Home Time, the workshops are part of a wider research and engagement programme. Renfrewshire Council are preparing a vision for Ferguslie Park to support wider housing investment within the area. This is being developed in consultation with the local community and will support a strategy for reimagining vacant and underused land, enhancing greenspaces and considering opportunities for community uses and activities.

As part of this, the residency will serve as a case study and test how future, larger scale projects with artists could develop in Ferguslie Park over the next decade, in conversation with local people.

Renfrewshire Council have commissioned Collective Architecture and a team including Create, Lateral North and Ilka to work with residents and community groups on Ferguslie Visioning. Learning from Home Time will underpin and support this work.

This is our second project in Scotland, following Baltic Street Adventure Playground with Assemble in 2014.
